CREATE YOUR FREESTYLE in ELEMENTARY DRESSMAKING COURSE

This course is open for participants who wish to create their own freestyle pattern such as drafting and cutting type of collarless and sleeveless of dress, blouse, skirt and pants accordingly to elementary dressmaking syllabus course.

Besides that it introduces beginners to the commercial of sewing by using the sewing machine, selecting fabric, reading a pattern draft, layout the pattern, mock up and cutting fabric. Learn how to interpret the pattern directions and sew each piece together. 

Participants will learn:
1.            How to take measurements and select the correct pattern size
2.            To change the pattern to fit their body
3.            Read and follow instructions of commercial patterns
4.            Understand the layout, marking, pinning and cutting,
5.            Understand grainline of the fabric and cut properly;
6.            Learn professional finishing that doesn’t show in the commercial patterns in the correct order.
7.            Understand Dressmaking terminology.



Participants will be inspired to practise creativity, innovation and to acquire skills and knowledge beyond to develop and market products.

1.            Participants are going to learn techniques such as:
2.            Gathering, easing, elastic casing, patch pockets, centred zippers and invisible (concealed) zippers.
3.            Facings, waistband, straps, bias binding, button and buttonhole, finish necklines, hems
4.            Directional sewing, staystitch, understitch, chose the correct interfacing, and sewing techniques necessary to complete your particular garment.  
5.            Fitting is an aspect we cover in garments.
      



The schedule of elementary course:-
1) Fee: $185 (Member) / $210 (Non-Member)
2) Period: 8 sessions X 2.5 hours
3) Date: 02 February 2012  (Every Thursday)
4) Time: 6.30pm to 9.00pm.
